As a curious realistic painter, I've had an interest in art for as long as I can remember. Along with drawing and painting, I enjoy hitting the trails before work, enjoying lattes with a good book, and I believe anyone can train their eyes and hands to create believable, lifelike art. Over the years, I've dedicated myself to reading and exploring information on perceptual skills, fine motor learning, neuroscience, and observation to discover the most practical ways to draw and paint better and faster. Although I am not a scientist, neuroscientist, or medical professional, I am a visual artist who enjoys developing actionable tips that work for me in my studio.
Throughout the years, I've discovered a wealth of valuable information that I've been able to apply on my journey. Much of this knowledge has come from fields such as science, math, and other areas not directly related to art. Once you begin to see the connections, you realize that you can often find exactly what you need in a different domain.
All content on this site reflects my personal interpretations, opinions, and application of research based on my experiences, including trial and error. Please consider it as creative inspiration rather than formal scientific or medical advice.
Here are a few pieces from my portfolio that showcase the kind of realism I strive for. While my primary focus is portrait painting, you'll occasionally find artwork depicting things I've discovered along the trails.
